I love this rather 'common' orchid (if one is allowed to use the word "common" and "orchid" in the same breath). The outer petals and lip are a mixture of velvety rich, purple/maroon and brilliant white changing to lime green, even yellow. They perfectly frame the almost wet-looking anther and stigma that seem to burst from the glowing centre. Neon threads helped to add some of the inner light.

Techniques: Machine pieced, machine quilted
Materials: Cotton fabrics & batting, cotton, rayon and polyester threads
